Jaz’min Weaver

Bardstown Bourbon National Brand Ambassador

Jaz’min Weaver didn’t become the next great American novelist.

After graduating from the University of Michigan with an English degree, she bided her time freelance writing and editing, waiting for her moment of inspiration to strike. While on assignment covering a top Detroit restaurant, her energy inspired the owners to offer her a job as a part-time hostess. Quickly, she found her way behind the bar and realized she preferred a jigger and shaker to a pen and ink, and began telling stories through cocktails.

Since then, she’s spent the last decade running bar programs in Metro-Detroit with a focus on low-waste, seasonal and craft cock- tailing. Her background includes beverage pairing to prix fixe menus that changed daily, complex mocktails, pairing fragrances to cocktails, pairing cocktails to oysters, immersive beverage experiences and teaching cocktail classes.

A fan of musicals and a former a cappella group member, Jaz’min has an air of performance in her work. Her flair makes her an engaging bartender and an even more interesting spirits educator. She’s had to work harder, faster and better than her male peers to get the same amount of recognition. She’s a certified Bourbon Steward, LEE Initiative Mentee (2022), and former Secretary and Board Member of the Detroit chapter of the USBG.

Grit and sunshine makes for a triumphant combo as Jaz now serves as the first minority female to lead advocacy for Bardstown Bourbon Co, one of the fastest-growing brands in bourbon. She’s only begun to write her story in the spirits industry, and it’s already shaping up to be a bestseller.
